Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, inaugurated the advanced Decision Support System (DSS) at the Force Headquarters on Monday to enhance the operational capabilities of the BSF.
This is a first of its kind initiative across the Central Armed Police Forces in the country. The system has been designed to empower commanders at all levels with data-driven decision-making tools.

The system enables informed planning and execution of operations, strengthening the BSF’s ability to secure the country’s borders.
It will also enable the armed forces to provide Integrating advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) functionalities, the DSS combines legacy operational data, incident databases, and real-time sensor feeds from border areas to create a Comprehensive Operating Picture (COP) at the Headquarters.
The system will benefit BSF with facilities of monitoring and predictive trend analysis which will further enhance situational awareness and support effective border management.
The system would be capable of performing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based operations to analyse GIS data to predict smuggling hotspots, infiltration routes and other critical information. These capabilities will help optimize resource allocation, operational planning, and execution, significantly boosting the BSF’s effectiveness.
The DSS will be integrated in the future with the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System, other Command Centers of the force and also with GIS platforms of other security forces and organizations.
There are plans to incorporate mobile applications with the DSS for real time data collection and incident reporting.
In its next phase, the DSS will connect with additional data sources, ensuring a robust system to meet evolving security challenges.
